Steps

Capture at 1280x800 or larger

A capture that is already at least 1280 wide and 800 tall can be cropped at scale 1, which keeps every interface pixel exactly as it was drawn. Enlarging a smaller capture to fill the frame is what makes a store screenshot look soft next to its neighbours.

  • Scale 1 maps one captured pixel to one exported pixel.
  • The + and - keys change the scale by 0.01 when a smaller capture has to be fitted anyway.
  • Arrow keys move the capture one pixel at a time, Shift and an arrow move it ten.

Frame the part that explains the extension

1280x800 is a wide frame, and a whole browser window pushed into it leaves the extension itself tiny. Crop to the popup, the toolbar, or the part of the page where the extension is visibly doing something.

  • Whatever falls outside the frame is not in the file.
  • The preview shows the frame against the rest of the capture, so what is being cut is visible.
  • Center puts the capture back in the middle of the frame after a wrong move.

Prepare the rest of the set the same way

A listing holds up to five screenshots and they are read as a set. The frame and the format stay where they are when the next capture is loaded, so the second and the third are cropped under the settings you already chose.
