Crop an App Store screenshot to exactly 1320x2868

1320 x 2868 is the portrait screenshot size App Store Connect lists for the 6.9-inch iPhone, the largest class in its table. Apple takes .jpg, .jpeg, and .png here, rejects anything carrying an alpha channel, and allows one to ten screenshots per device type. The editor above is fixed at 1320x2868 and exports JPEG, which has no alpha channel at all, so a transparent corner in the source cannot reach the upload. How to crop a 1320x2868 screenshot

Steps

Start from a capture at least as large as the frame

A capture from a 6.9-inch device or simulator is already 1320x2868 and drops into the frame at scale 1 with nothing cut. A capture from a smaller device is smaller than the frame, and stretching it to 2868 pixels of height is what turns crisp interface type into a blur.

  • Scale 1 keeps one captured pixel per exported pixel.
  • The frame is much taller than it is wide; a landscape source cannot fill it without losing most of its width.
  • 2868x1320 is the same device class in landscape if that is the orientation you are shipping.

Put the frame over what you are actually selling

A device capture cropped to a different proportion loses either the status bar at the top or the home indicator at the bottom. Decide which edge can go before fitting the image, then nudge it into place instead of accepting the first fit.

  • Arrow keys move the image one pixel, Shift and an arrow move it ten.
  • Whatever is outside the frame is not in the file.
  • Center puts the image back into the middle of the frame.

Keep the alpha channel out, then read the size

Apple rejects screenshots that contain transparency. JPEG has no alpha channel, so exporting JPEG settles that question; a PNG export would carry whatever transparency the source had straight into the file. Apple states no weight limit for a screenshot, and the footer still reports the exact size of the file this browser produced.

  • The output line must read 1320x2868 before you upload.
  • Lower the quality slider if the file is heavier than you want; the estimate is recalculated as you move it.
  • PNG and WebP keep source alpha, which is exactly what this asset must not have.
